Advanced R&D Center

Egret Group has established a 2000 m² R&D center, a comprehensive facility for advanced material engineering, new energy adhesive product innovation, testing and validation, process technology development, and information engineering management. The Industrial R&D Center is designed to serve as an integrated “production–academia–research–application” platform for transforming research outcomes into practical solutions.

Guided by basic material research, the center leverages ‘Optimized Polymer Chemical Formulations, Cost-Effective Adhesive Design, and Systematic Professional Testing’ to provide customers with innovative solutions. We aim to not only meet and exceed existing requirements but also to inspire and create new market demands.

  • Advanced Backing Material Engineering
    Advanced Backing Material Engineering

Backing material is the ‘main body’ of adhesive tapes. It usually determines the mechanical strength, processing accuracy, and functional boundaries. Our Backing material option can be as followed:
Films:  PET, BOPP, PVC, PP, PE, TPU, pearlescent films, synthetic paper.
Papers:  Kraft paper, washi paper, cotton paper, masking paper, sulfur paper.
Other Substrates:  PE foam, EVA foam, PU foam, mesh fabric, cloth-based materials, aluminum foil, velvet, stretch fabric, non-woven fabric, fiberglass fabric, synthetic fiber fabric.
Special Materials:  specialty papers, specialty films, high-temperature resistant substrates, low-temperature resistant substrates, stretchable substrates, self-healing substrates, self-destructing substrates, optical-grade substrates.

  • Adhesive Formulation Development
    Adhesive Formulation Development

In tape manufacturing processes, the adhesive build-up is often referred to as the ‘spirit’ of tapes. The adhesive build-up does not determine the adhesion only, it also determines the reliability, functionality, and service life of the tape under various extreme environments.
Water-Based Acrylic Adhesive: Water-based Acrylic adhesive is the most used eco-friendly specification. It is ideally suited for applications with high requirements for long-term stability, environmental friendliness, and transparency.
Solvent-Based Acrylic Adhesive: Solvent-based Acrylic Adhesive has a more molecular structure, enabled by organic solvents, which allows for more complex physicochemical reactions, providing irreplaceable advantages in extreme environments.

Rubber-Based Adhesive: Rubber-based adhesives are categorized into two main types: natural rubber and synthetic rubber. This kind of adhesive is well-known for its great initial tack and good compatibility with low surface energy.

Silicone-Based Adhesive: The molecular backbone of silicone is composed of siloxane bonds (Si-O), whose bond energy is significantly higher than that of the carbon-carbon bonds (C-C) found in acrylic or rubber. This specification tape can operate over a long-term temperature range of -60°C to +260°C, withstanding even higher instantaneous temperature peaks.
Holt-Melt Adhesive: Hot melt adhesives are solvent-free and require no drying process, meeting stringent environmental requirements while offering distinct advantages in transportation and storage.

Release Liner Types

Release Liners can usually be divided into coated release liner、glassine release paper、PET release Film、and PP release Film.

The main types of commercially available release liners are:

  • Silicone-based release agents
  • Fluorine-based release agents(including fluorine block copolymers)
  • Non-silicone release agents(alkyl-based or polyethyleneimine-based polymers)

Industry standard evaluation methods include:

  • Tesa 7475 Release Force
  • Nitto 31B Release Force(for non-silicone films)
  • Nitto 31B Adhesive Residue Rate
